Message From Mr. Marshall

Dear Webster Stanley Families and Friends,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!  We are excited to finally see our students back in person!  While COVID-19 has caused significant disruption to our lives, our staff at Webster Stanley is doing everything possible to create a safe environment for everyone in this “new normal.” As students arrive on campus, we will be asking students to congregate in 3 specific areas.  Students who want breakfast should stand by Door #4 located along Siewert Trail.  Students who are taking Band or Orchestra and may want breakfast should stand by Door #3 located at the corner of Siewert Trail and Hazel St.  All other students should line up by the main entrance at Door #1 on Hazel Street.  We will be staggering entrance time into the building to help minimize hallway traffic.  Please inform your student where they should line up as they enter campus.  Breakfast will be a “grab and go” bag and will be eaten in students’ advisory period from 8:19-8:34.  Lunch will also look a little different as we socially distance students at the tables with a safety shield and overflow in the gymnasium.  Microwaves will not be available for student use this year.  As we ease into the new school year, our instructional practices will look a little different.  When students are physically in school for their contact days, direct instruction and learning activities will take place.  On virtual days, students will be asked to work on extension activities from the previous day and check in to their classes on Infinite Campus for attendance purposes.  Please remind your student the importance of this independent work and responsibility.  It will be more important than ever before for school and home to work closely together to support the learning needs of our students.  Our staff is here to support you and your student so please reach out to your child’s teacher, counselor, social worker, nurse, or any office staff for any questions or assistance that you need.  We look forward to a great school year!

Sincerely,

Mr. Marshall, Principal

A Note From The Nurse

A message from the desk of the school nurse:

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year. You, your children, and our schools are preparing for a very different start to the school year. Regardless of whether your child is returning to school in person or virtually, this school year is sure to be filled with many challenges and opportunities.

We know you are busy and probably overwhelmed as you prepare for the first days of school. We know you have questions about learning, childcare, working from home, lessons, face coverings, emotional health, and so much more.  We want you to know we are ALL in this TOGETHER.

We have a few reminders for the beginning of our school year:

In order for school staff to administer medications we need your written consent, the physician’s signature, and original labeled medication bottles. If your child requires medication to be given at school, please complete a medication request form and have your physician sign it—forms are available at physicians’ offices or at school. If medications need to be cut in half, parents must do that prior to sending the medication to school.

Please report any changes in your child’s health to school as soon as possible. Your school nurse will contact you regarding school interventions. If your child has a health plan in place, please contact the school nurse with any updates.

If your child has a serious allergy requiring antihistamines or an epipen at school, please provide the necessary medications by the first day of school, with signed authorization to use as directed.  Click Here for a copy of the allergy and Epipen plan.

Students with asthma are allowed to carry their rescue inhaler at school to use as needed with written authorization from the doctor, school nurse and parent/ guardian.  A medication sheet with a doctor signature must be on file in the health office. Click Here for a copy of the asthma plan.

If your student has a seizure disorder, please click Here for a copy of the seizure plan.

All students with diabetes must have emergency supplies and testing equipment provided by parents. The school nurse needs to get updated diabetic plans in place prior to the start of school.

Finally, here are some wonderful resources as we begin the new school year…

Please know we are here for you.  You are doing a great job.  We are all in this together and together, we will all get through this.  Here we come 2020-21!

Sincerely,
